Aviation is pretty big in my husband’s family. His Dad was a helicopter pilot in the Army, his step-father is an instructor pilot, whose father is also a pilot. (There are more in the family as well but I don’t want to rant on). My husband is currently flying with his step-father who is helping him earn flight hours and teaching him the ins and out of aviation. I was super excited that Jake wanted to further include me in his journey by taking me with him on a flight!
We got up and ready around 5:30 am to head out to the airfield. Grabbed some coffee and a muffin on the way and we were off! Once we got there I watched as they went through some pre-flight procedures. This was my very first time flying in a small airplane. It was definitely an unforgettable experience! I sat in the back and enjoyed the view. We’re in Arizona so I was able to get a breathtaking view of the mountains.

My favorite part of the flight was definitely watching my husband fly! It was a super cool experience having my husband fly us around in the airplane and watching him go through all of the procedures. That being said, once he started practicing maneuvers, the S-Turns had me feeling a little woozy. I felt great for the first hour of the flight. Then it went downhill quickly as my stomach turned over and over. I tried to stick it out as long as I could but ended up letting them know and they landed right away for me. They then went back up and practiced some touch and gos while I recovered. Overall I loved it and can’t wait to go up again!
