1. Designate a bible study space.

Having a space to read my bible has made me much more likely to sit down and dig into the word of God. For me this is a desk in our kitchen. It’s a spot that I see everyday, a constant reminder and comfortable place for me to study. This can be anywhere. At the kitchen table. A spot on the couch or your favorite recliner. I just love that my children will know that reading the word of God was important enough in my life for me to make a space for it in my home and therefore in my days. It really has made a huge difference for me!
2. Have a Plan

Reading your bible can be overwhelming. The best tip that I ever received was to keep reading until you connect. If you don’t feel a sense of understanding, keep reading! That being said, there are no rules to reading your bible. If you are taking the time to read the word of God that’s truly all that matters. I know in my own experience it has been fairly easy to let days, weeks, even months pass by without really making it a priority. Think about what your goals are and what would be realistic for your schedule. I know I have at least ten minutes a day to spare that I spend on my phone and could instead be spent delving into the word of God and in turn furthering my relationship with him and moving forward in my faith. So, I made the decision to use my space first thing in the morning as my kids eat breakfast.
My Plan
What works best for me, is scripture writing. It’s less than 10 minutes a day which was manageable for me as a mom of 3. I found my monthly scripture writing plan on pinterest and printed it out so that each day I had a pre-determined verse of the day to write out. Here is an example from the site that I used.

3. Listen to Worship Music Daily

If I hop in the car, chances are when I crank it, I’ll hear K-LOVE on the radio. For one, I strongly believe that what you listen to affects your mood but also it often leads to me thinking about and praising Jesus. I may not necessarily be in the mindset of worshipping when I first get in the car but I often find myself jamming out before I know it. I begin worshipping and feeling thankful and it really brightens my day. Or if i’m having a tough day with my little ones, sometimes it can just be a gentle reminder of what’s truly important.

I know it sounds obvious, but I think it can be easy blow off church if you have even half of an excuse.. if you’re tired or have plans that day. Going to church is my plan for every Sunday morning. I don’t make plans over those plans because going to church is important to me. It’s a highlight in my week. Find yourself a church that you are excited to go to and be a part of. Then make it a priority! There is so much opportunity for growth in a church service.
5. Pray
Last but not least, and seemingly the simplest of them all. Yet, this is another thing that is super easy to let slip. You can pray anytime, anywhere but if you have a hard time remembering to pray each day – having a routine can turn that around. Maybe that means you pray first thing in the morning. On the way to work. Or as you dose off in bed. In our home we pray as a family every night before our kids go to sleep and then I pray on my own just before I go to sleep. Set an appointment with Jesus if you need to. Whatever you need to do to make it happen, just pray.

Jesus loves you! Hope this helps you on your journey through faith and relationship with our savior.
